The Problem: Huanglongbing Devastates California Citrus

Huanglongbing (HLB), also known as citrus greening disease, poses a significant threat to California’s citrus groves. A bacterial disease spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, HLB leads to bitter, misshapen fruits, and eventually the death of infected trees. With no known cure, HLB rapidly spreads and endangers the state’s multibillion-dollar citrus industry. The disease threatens the livelihoods of farmers and the broader citrus industry, which is why there is an urgent need to battle against HLB with innovative solutions.
